Well, I don't know anything about WHERE it is made, HOW it gets there, or WHY it's there, but as far as Tijuana, Mexico goes, you most certainly CAN get REAL hydro..About as easily as you can get the Chicklet packets of gum that vendors are walking around everywhere trying to sell you! (anyone who has been there will know what I am talking about, as far as the Chicklets go..) As far as it being LEGAL, well, hell no it's not... THAT particuar area of Mexico caters to the underage kids that come down from San Diego to party. It is a very poor area and they rely on the 18 year old Marines that cross over in San Diego. Those kids want to party, and although they can die for our country at 18, they can't drink a beer legally in the US. So they go where they CAN have a drink and not have to worry about getting busted by a superior by staying at a sleazy motel for the night. SOrry, got off topic there a lil.. WHen you go down there, you have ppl coming out of every pharmacy offering you Vicodin, (Darvocet is their big one) If you act interested in Vicodin, they tell you that you have to go to either 'the place next door' OR to the back of the pharmacy where you will procede to tell someone sitting in a more than scary environment that you need Vics for blah blah blah...You pay that person (whether it IS a doctor, a regular ole person with a stolen script pad, or whoever it is,) 50 bucks, they write you the script, then you take it back to the original person that initiated the contact to begin with. (With darvocet, you just tell them you want that and avoid all those steps) As I said, it is illegal as hell I am sure, but they somehow have it... As far as getting back into the US, well, we are such a prejudice nation, that it honestly depends on what you look like on whether or not you get searched or not..I have taken the bus from the border to my car, walked over the border, where the ppl are lined up as if they are in line at an amusement park and NEVER been searched.. I have watched Mexican 'looking' people get searched from head to toe, down to inside their shoes.. But I happen to have blonde hair and blue eyes, and they ask if I was approached or if I bought anything while there, I said no, and was on my merry way..Please to anyone about to start telling me how stupid I am for doing this, save your time. I know it was dumb and very chancy. But desperate times have called for desperate measures in the past. Fully aware if the illegality if it..Just sharing my experience.

Hi out there, let me set the record straight for all of you.I am currently in mazatlan.I came down for a 6 month stay.I have a presription for 100 80 mg oxys.that I filled before I left.I was getting low so I went and saw the local doctor for a refill. He was a great doctor to deal with.He told me that he could not get Hyrocodone here.He tried absolutely everything possible to get them for me.He even tried to special order them for me and could not.I ran out of my oxys and I went 2 time a day to the doc and he gave me a morphine shot while he was still trying to get some for me.That went on for 8 days until we gave up.I flew back to the US ($900.00 ) and my doc gave me 300 to last me while I was here.I don't have medical insurance so my trip and meds cost me about $5000.00 . So in short , you cannot buy hydrocodone legally in mexico. Straight goods !!!! BS... there is not a pharm in this country that would give you 300 oxy 80 at once... doctor sctipt or not... there is a limit of what they can write per month. and 300 is well above it. i dont believe this for a second. This subject seems to come up regularly. In fact, both hydrocodone and oxycodone medications are manufactured in Mexico. OxyContin is, however, no longer available there. The problem for this poster might have been where he and his doctor were located in Mexico. Mazatlan is not exactly a teeming metropolis. In order to prescribe narcotics like hydrocodone and oxycodone, doctors must have a special license which is limited both in number and geography. It is extremely difficult for the ordinary Mexican citizen to be prescribed these narcotics outside of a hospital in a large city. While many people in the US complain about access to narcotic pain treatment, they would be doubly appalled at the situation that exists in our neighbor to the south. All of this is, of course, unrelated to the conditions that exist regarding legalities enforced at pharmacies near the border or in heavy tourist areas. Your guess is as good as mine where and how these operations get their narcotic meds. They seem to be operating in some kind of parallel universe.

to add...I travel to South East Asia on business every year. Can't get anything, including hospitals, stronger for pain except Tramadol, which is like aspirin to me. But you can get Valium,Xanax Ativan in drugstores and and on the street! Go figure. My sister-in-law is a doctor and the best she can get me is diazapem.Gave me a bottle of a 1,000 once! Crazy. I gave half to a friend of mine. So its not only Latin America pharmacies.
