This is one of the many questions addressed at the FDA FAQ: http://www.fda.gov/oc/buyonline/faqs.html

Is it illegal for a foreign pharmacy to ship prescription medicines into the U.S.?

It is illegal for anyone, including a foreign pharmacy, to ship prescription drugs that are not approved by FDA into the U.S. even though the drug may be legal to sell in that pharmacy's country. Under the scheme that Congress established to ensure that drugs are safe and effective, drugs are tested and test results are thoroughly reviewed by FDA scientists. U.S. law also requires that products approved for sale in the United States have their formulation approved by FDA, be made in a plant registered with FDA, and be produced under quality standards enforced by FDA.

Prescription drugs available from a foreign pharmacy that are products that FDA has not approved; products with similar, but not identical formulations as FDA-approved products; products not made under the quality standards required by U.S. law or labeled according to U.S. requirements; or products not stored or distributed under the quality conditions required in the U.S. cannot be legally sold in the U.S.

Wrong. Medications manufactured in the USA under the strict tutelage of the FDA and shipped to foreign countries cannot be reimported back into the USA. Why? Because the WTO is dominated by the USA. It is called protectionism.

Did you know that there are 5 FDA approved manufacturing facilities in India. One of which is Ranbaxy. Their products are allowed to be imported into the US. But US manufactured products that have been shipped out of the country can never be reimported.

FYI!

Here in Canada Tylenol with 8mg codeine, 15mg caffeine and 300mg APAP can be purchased from any pharmacy/grocery store etc in 200 counts for around $8..... If you live in a city there is at least 2 places where you can buy them on every block OTC. They come in all sorts of generics. Stanly for instance is an American company so I guess it could not be shipped back in to the us?. Another one is RatioPharm, which I think is canadian. Apo is another that is canadian for sure. Does anyone know of any law that allows tylenol 1's to be shipped to the stats for personal use. It just seems like such a waste. I cringe when I see IOP's selling 15mg codeine with 500mg APAP from europe or India for about 15 times the actual retail cost.

So basically is there a way that this can be done. It is freely obtainable .........and you guys are just so so close
