I don't understand why someone would choose to have them shipped to their workplace and not their home?

Depends on the situation, if you work full time it's easier just to have it shipped to your work. Not all people work in an office either so the poll is worded a bit wrong but i think we all get the drift.

I answered sometimes because i have had to have it sent to my place of employment before because i chose to be paid for my time waitng vd sitting home and waiting all damn day.

Well, I use to have them sent to work until one day when my package came and the receptionist announced over the intercom that my pills where here.

I wondered that too so that is why I posted the question. It really surprised me when I read that some were having their meds shipped to their office. I never would. I can see how difficult it would be though to get your meds if you are at work all day. I guess I would use a po box or remailer site where they could recieve it while I was at work.

Unless you work in a super laid back place, you'd have to be out of your mind to have Internet meds shipped to your work, IMO

There is always another way....

I know of someone making the mistake of placing the company name in the address.

Bob Squarepants
Big Jim’s Manufacturing Company
2020 W. 25th Place
Worktown, AZ 85022

Well, when the LL came, it was addressed to the company not to him; so the company receptionist opened the mail. Needless to say he was fired. They even threatened him by involving LE, but never followed through.

Way too dangerous for the faint of heart.

I think its fine to have it shipped to your work, its private mail and if the meds are prescribed, there is no rule against it!

It may be private mail but if there is any hint of illegality then I would keep it away from work. No sense in having LE show up at your place of work if possible. JMO

Even without the threat of L.E. you would have to be in an office setting where everyone knows each other and likes you, unless your boss may just be against the Idea if She/he gets the mail first. I wouldn't take the chance, but what the heck, I work from home.

I guess you can alway say there from your medical provider, if the return address is not somthing like India. Or imagin what you would say to the boss, if the package was from Pakistan?

I contacted the Postal Inspector's Office and they confirmed that it is NOT illegal for your employer to open mail that comes to the company. It didn't matter if it was marked personal, if it didn't have the companies name, or any other variable. A company policy is the only rule that would be broken. No laws.

Your employer can open any mail addressed to you if it comes to your employer's place of business -- no matter whose name is on it.

You have no right to have your personal mail received at your place of employment.

Same here, only I was the receptionist where I worked. Stupid of me and I would never do it again. As another poster stated - there's always a better way. Don't do it.

I do it. Just got one this week. They usually have to be signed for and I'm not home when the mail comes. Then they leave that dumb card to take to the P.O. to pick up your package. I HATE having to do that and am never around during the hours my neighborhood P.O. is open. Luckily all of our mail at the office goes through me first anyway. \:\)

I always knew the guys in the mailroom well so it was nice to have it easily delivered to work. If its addressed to you, they can't open it anyway.

I was talking about an OCS. Its rx'd by a doctor and its addressed to me personally not to mention COD. I was working in a retail outlet where we received fed ex/ups everyday, so it really was'nt a big deal. Heck i even send it to the place after i left to go out on my own and was working in the same area. I just called ahead and let them know i had something coming COD addressed to me etc and they were fine. None of their buisness really whats in it. IMHO.

That was uncalled for and I would have bitten her ear off for that. In fact, that would have put alot of steam under my pot. Her assumption of even if fact, was either stupid or spiteful and I might have reported her to management. Did you? I have my packages sent to work and the receptionist always signed with no problem, even left a message for me that the package arrived.

Back in the day everything came double-wrapped AND in a nice discrete box. OCS's were accepting CC's and it was just easier to have it shipped to work. I never had a problem.

Times have changed and as far as I know most places are COD. I would NEVER have that shipped to work. Too much of a red flag for Nosey-Nellys. One can never be sure of the shipping package either. I've had some things come that sounded like little marachas (all I needed was some music and a sexy little outfit!).

Princeton, you are so right. A few years ago you could count on the fact that any medicine you ordered would be discreet and in a plain brown box or Fedex box usually. Now they come in those thin envelopes and rattle like crazy, not to mention that it's easy to feel the envelope and know it's a pill bottle.

I would never send medicine to work, but then, I don't work anymore so it isn't a problem, whereas I can see it being a problem for someone who isn't home 5 days a week.

An yeah, the receptionist should have been disciplined. In the companies I worked, the receptionist simply opened the regular mail and sorted it, and left anything that was addressed personally to someone alone. If our receptionist had ever announced over the intercom that a package of pills was there, I would have immediately gone to her supervisor. It was spiteful and unnecessary.

I would have to have them shipped to work. I just could not take the time off to sit and wait on UPS/Fedex and I absolutely hated having to go to the hub after hearing some folks were busted doing that.

But, I was a receptionist for a very small firm. I always requested that it come to the front desk instead of back in receiving. It was laid back and the ones who knew what came every month thought it was just vitamins or asthma meds. If it came in a bag, I'd just throw it in my drawer - if in a box I'd sign for it, pay and throw it in my trunk unopened till lunchtime. I never had a problem, even when a wise cracking Fedex driver said real loud "Wow, that's some expensive pills" as he shook the bag and the dang bottle rattled. Then he says "See ya next month" with a smirk! Jackass!! I just covered and said something like - naw, the vitamins are cheap - it's the jewelry I ordered that's expensive.

I am the general manager of two hotels so i am at work 12-14 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. I have to have it shipped to my work or i wouldnt be able to recieve it. Because of the guests at my hotels and other things we order, Fedex and UPS are delivering something almost everyday so it is no big deal but i really didnt like using that address. That is why i was so excited when i found a service that calls it in. Very simple and i can pick them up that day!

Sometimes, their workplace IS their home. So that could be a contributing factor. That's my sitraution in any case.

I work at home too and since the courier has to hold the scanner while I sign, they don't ever make remarks.

Just one time, I opened the door and a DHL guy started off with, "Did you know the police...?" \:o

I was about to slam the door shut -- then realized he was just relating the highlight of his day that had nothing to do with medication or my package. (whew!!!) \:\)

Whew p2all, too close for comfort. What is that saying about guilty minds. j/k nothing to feel guilty about. I hadn't even thought of those good buddies here at DB working from home. I guess my original intent was an office away from your house where you are NOT the boss. I'm glad backpain you have great people to work with. Some places I have worked I wouldn't trust many people. It has been said in my profession it is the only one that "eats its young". Too much estrogen overload.

Unless you own your own business, I would highly NOT recommend having pills delivered to your job. The last thing you want is your co-workers knowing you buy meds online.

I do not understand way anyone would have meds shipped to their job especially if you are getting them from an IOP. It brings to much attention to yourself.

I'd get fired so fast my head would spin. I work for a small company and someone had something shipped there (make-up, I think) and they went ballistic. They would open any and everything that was shipped there. Same with my old company--it was a huge company and ALL mail was opened (just in case it was an invoice or a payment), then stamped with with when it was received and put in another envelope and through house mail. What a waste of people and time.
