Thanks for all the replys, but I'm having a tough time finding a stronger cough syrup such as Tussinex.
Is Tussinex difficult to order? Thank you in advance!
-MARLEY A few years ago, SWMG added this product and they would let you order it with the consult (in addition to your regular meds) or if it was between the consult, they would give you a "mini" consult for a cheap price to get it scripted for you. They scripted a large amount and it was expensive, just like it is at Wal-Mart, etc. I ordered it once and they scripted 480 cc/ml for me. Well that was 2, 8 oz bottles and I didn't need that much plus it was about $350.00. I ended up calling the pharmacy asking if they could just send one bottle and then leave me with one refill, which they did. Since that time I have never seen Tussionex offered online and I don't expect to see it. As far as a cough med, the pharmacist says it is the strongest one you can buy. Now there are some stronger things that are used for cough. My dad had morphine delivered like they do a breathing treatment. It was not a "cough med" but it is stronger. With Tussionex being the strongest "cough med" out there and even many docs refusing to script it in their office, I wouldn't expect to find it online at all. The price is another issue. The OCS pharmacies always raised the price of Lortab to crazy prices and I don't think they would be able to do that with the Tussionex. At drugstore.com the price of an 8 oz bottle of Tussionex is $160.90 so an online pharmacy would generally more than double that price and I don't think it would sell that great. Also because of all the hype around Tussionex, it is a very closely watched drug. Last year when I got it and the doc gave me a 8 oz bottle, the insurance would only pay for 4 oz. They have decided that no one ever needs more than 4 oz (120 ml) of this medicine and they won't pay for it more than every 30 days, even though 4 oz is NOT a 30 day amount. The pharmacist told me that many insurance companies were doing this, not just mine. I had to go through the doc, get him to write a letter to ok them paying for more than 120 ml. I could have just paid for the extra 120 ml out of my pocket, but that is about $70-$90 depending on where you buy it. The pharmacist dispensened the 120 ml, charged me one co-pay (it is also an expensive co-pay, this is one of the drugs that have a co-pay of $45 for me, my regular co-pays are $5 and $15), the doc sent the letter, the insurance approved it and the pharmacist ran everything back through again so I didn't have to pay anything else. I just don't see it being online ever again, it is the "Holy Grail" of cough meds, it is expensive and because some rappers have even written songs that talk about this (also phenergan w/codeine) it is just watched too much IMO, to be available any where online.
