The last one probably has more and you might have to google a name of the product to see what is in it.

Google Rikodeine. There are a few Australian sites that will ship if you call the Pharmacist and explain it is for dry cough.Tussinex or Hycodan are the only syrups better.

Hey Stacy, I'm still looking. This Chemistdirect place has a whole lot to look at! I never realized that codeine could be purchased w/o a script in the UK. I notice that the mg are pretty low, but I found a box of 32 Nurofen Plus Ibuprofen & Codeine Tablets for £4.99 (I really should find out what the exchange rate is from Brittish £ to USD, but figure it's not a huge difference). Anyway, that was a good find for me since I can't take tylenol at all & I shouldn't take aspirin. I pretty much only take ibuprophen as an OTC pain releiver. Codeine is only 12% so 2 tabs would be like one T-3.. but something good to have on hand IMO. There seems to be a flat rate for shipping to the US and with the prices being so cheap, I'm kinda looking around at lots of stuff I'd probably be getting anyway... thanks for the site and I've also got a box of those lozenges you bought in my cart too. I think I've found out what that Pholcodine is... think it works as well as codeine for stopping coughs w/o the "tunnel head" that so much other stuff has... also it supposedly doesn't convert to morphene in the body.. so, no euphoria. Oh well, right now, a break from the cough would be euphoria in itself!

Is that pounds? If so, then 8 something.

You probably want more than one box of the lozenges.

Here is a currency exchange converter to check the prices:

Thanks, I was just about to google for a currency converter. I'm not sure, but they are located in the UK so I figured that the £ stands for lbs - yeah, pounds.

1.00 GBP = 1.66056 USD

O.K. so... a little more than it looked (as if looking at the prices as if they were in USD), but not that much.

Really? 2 boxes? I take it that they work well then. You seem like a very helpful person, Stacy, I'll take your word for it and do that.. thanks!

When growing up, I was automatically prescribed by my family doctor either hycodan or Tussionex every year - way before I ever even knew or cared what was in them. I just knew that they worked a lot better than the stuff on the shelves. I really don't see why there should be such a problem now, getting the same thing! I mean, I know the propaganda behind it, I just don't think it SHOULD be the case.

I'll google Rikondeine - never heard of it but appreciate the info. Just wondering, are you talking about a particular IOP(s) to talk to the pharmacist at? Or just an Aussie pharmacist in general. If that's the case, I have two very close friends who live in Sydney... maybe I should talk to them???

In any case, thanks for the info...

It is Rikodeine linctus.I think the matter of the Pharmacy sending has to do with the province where they are located. Some want an Australian Drs. prescription, some a phone call, and others just ship.I would ask your friend to ask at a local drug store, and send you a helpful Christmas gift,if not any trouble.

Generally the online pharmacies that will ship pharmacist only meds to the US just require you to fill out a little questionaire.

Having the friend buy and send to you is a good idea.

Thanks for all the replys, but I'm having a tough time finding a stronger cough syrup such as Tussinex.

Is Tussinex difficult to order? Thank you in advance!

A few years ago, SWMG added this product and they would let you order it with the consult (in addition to your regular meds) or if it was between the consult, they would give you a "mini" consult for a cheap price to get it scripted for you.

They scripted a large amount and it was expensive, just like it is at Wal-Mart, etc. I ordered it once and they scripted 480 cc/ml for me.

Well that was 2, 8 oz bottles and I didn't need that much plus it was about $350.00. I ended up calling the pharmacy asking if they could just send one bottle and then leave me with one refill, which they did.

Since that time I have never seen Tussionex offered online and I don't expect to see it. As far as a cough med, the pharmacist says it is the strongest one you can buy. Now there are some stronger things that are used for cough. My dad had morphine delivered like they do a breathing treatment. It was not a "cough med" but it is stronger. With Tussionex being the strongest "cough med" out there and even many docs refusing to script it in their office, I wouldn't expect to find it online at all.

The price is another issue. The OCS pharmacies always raised the price of Lortab to crazy prices and I don't think they would be able to do that with the Tussionex. At drugstore.com the price of an 8 oz bottle of Tussionex is $160.90 so an online pharmacy would generally more than double that price and I don't think it would sell that great.

Also because of all the hype around Tussionex, it is a very closely watched drug. Last year when I got it and the doc gave me a 8 oz bottle, the insurance would only pay for 4 oz. They have decided that no one ever needs more than 4 oz (120 ml) of this medicine and they won't pay for it more than every 30 days, even though 4 oz is NOT a 30 day amount. The pharmacist told me that many insurance companies were doing this, not just mine.

I had to go through the doc, get him to write a letter to ok them paying for more than 120 ml. I could have just paid for the extra 120 ml out of my pocket, but that is about $70-$90 depending on where you buy it. The pharmacist dispensened the 120 ml, charged me one co-pay (it is also an expensive co-pay, this is one of the drugs that have a co-pay of $45 for me, my regular co-pays are $5 and $15), the doc sent the letter, the insurance approved it and the pharmacist ran everything back through again so I didn't have to pay anything else.

I just don't see it being online ever again, it is the "Holy Grail" of cough meds, it is expensive and because some rappers have even written songs that talk about this (also phenergan w/codeine) it is just watched too much IMO, to be available any where online.

In Illinois, I know Robitussin AC's and generic AC are there. I don't think Tylenol #3 is OTC. I could check on the rest. I do know you need a script for the Tylenol w/codeine. The cough syrups I have seen OTC though.

$30.00 for two boxes, delivered to US. The licorice flavored ones. What the heck, my throat hurts, I HATE codeine cough syrup (I can get it where I live, but after trying it once, yech...) and if this stuff works, thanks again Nephro.

I see no issues with LL, I can't even find a breakdown of the ingredients, and all it says on box is not for children under twelve.

Oh yeah, and I hate Dextromethorphan too. Does diddly.

And thanks Stacy. luv yer kitty-hat.

Squill (for those of you who were wondering)

A plant extract, constricts blood vessels, produces phlegm, and nausea, sounds very British.

hmmm...

The flower is pretty though!

What are the differences in Potters Gees Linctus and a codeine syrup ? Which one works better for the pain of a dry cough ? I know codeine syrup has recreational use and gets abused alot ; does the same apply with the linctus ? Why do they not sell this OTC ?

Thanks

mmyp, I've been prescribed Phenergan W/Codeine quite a few times for bronchitis. I laughed so hard when I put that into google and the first thing that came up was "purple drank." Too funny.

OTC but you have to get them from the pharmacist "behind the counter" and sign for them?

Here the pharmacist can give you 2 oz of those cough meds without a script but they won't generally do it.

Isn't T3 Sch III?, not sure about some of the other cough meds but do know that some cough meds with narcotic are lower than Sch III. Robitussin AC used to be strictly OTC here, but it's not anymore. You used to could just go to the counter and pick up a 6 oz bottle with no problem here.

It is mentioned in rap songs also just like Tussionex. Thanks to that kind of crap it will end up being a hard medicine to get soon also.

Another issue with Phen/Codeine and Tussionex happens to be people soaking a cigar or joint in the medicine, letting it dry and then smoking the cigar or joint.

THIS is why we have a hard time getting this stuff when sick, ticks me off.
