Hi, I'm not trying to scare anyone or anything like that... but I heard something on the news this morning that I thought might be something to at least be aware of... Actually, it was Good Morning America, then I heard it again on the local news at noon. Anyway, I was about 1/2 tuned in this morning when they were discussing something about people recently having bad complications from Tamiflu that was purchased online and warning against doing so. I realize that Tamiflu is most likely not a subject of great interest on this board and I'm not posting this because I think it is. I'm posting it because I only fully tuned into the story when I heard that a package from India (no particular name of a pharmacy or other source was mentioned) had been intercepted by US Customs and they had found a batch of pills labeled as Tamiflu, but they were not, they were something different entirely and in their attempt to "reassure the people" (I guess), there was mention to the effect that Customs is going to be paying closer attention to any "suspicious" packages coming in from overseas, and in particular to ones from India (I think that when I heard it the second time, they had supposedly confirmed 2 from India.)

I suspect some of you heard this as well, and maybe paid a bit closer attention than I did. But I suppose you can see where my concern lies. I recently sucessfully received an order from India and I know that there are at least several others who have as well. That is why I thought that if there is truth to the claims of closer scrutiny regarding packages from overseas and in particular India, well, maybe we should be aware that it has at least been discussed on mainstream network TV. I'm sure if they opened a package that contained pills other than Tamiflu - or labeleed as such - they would be just as interested, though not as likely to mention it on the news right now.

Hopefully, it was more hype than an actual effort... but, you never know. Anyway, like I say, I'm not out to scare anyone unnecessarily, I just thought it was something worth mentioning.

Sounds like just another scare story to fill the gap in a boring morning TV show.

The media never let the truth get in the way of a good story...

Thanks guys, but I have just notified admin to please delete the post, as I was unable to find a link confirming anythink particularly mentioning additional Customs investigations. I'm afraid I may not have heard correctly, and if so, don't want to have put out a possible false alarm. I appologize to those who already read it if it is inaccurate. Hopefully it will be gone soon.... The closest thing I could find in the way of a link was this: FDA Warns Against Fake Online H1N1 Remedies

I saw a story like that too.
Some Tamiflu was 100% bogus and others were not.
I missed some of the story but they were talking about overseas pharms.

Could also be some FDA propaganda - it is that time of year when people will be looking for flu medications.

I love how they warn people against buying medication from friendly countries such as Canada and the UK. Aren't their standards just as good as if not stricter than ours?

Granted there are probably phonies out there, just like there is phony everything else. But if you are dealing with a reputable pharmacy chain.......

It's also amazing how a medication in Canada can cost $16 while the same exact medication made in the U.S. by the same maufacturer costs $60. But yet the drug companies and the FDA don't work hand in hand.......

the EU and canada (and as far as i can tell, australia/NZ as well) seem to be as strict if not stricter than the US. so why they try to scare people if the meds are from these places is beyond me.
