Okay, just wanted to let everyone get thier two cents in on this hot topic. We are probably going to start this up, on a limited basis to test out the DHL deal. I want to know your feelings, thoughts, and dealings with each, and which you prefer.

Thanks
Brad

I used DHL twice in the past, once was okay, and the other time it was no good. They couldn't find the address, and then said they had attempted to deliver, but I had been home all day. I've never once had an issue with UPS or FedEx. JMO...

DHL does not deliver in my area and you have to go and pick it up at the hub which can be a real pain in the butt. Also I have never recieved medication through them but other things I have ordered I have had problems. One package was damaged another lost and the last was 3 days late getting to me. their tracking sucks too.. I have never had a problem with UPS and really hope that you will stay with them.

Brad,

I have a strong preference for UPS. I'm a bit out in the sticks, and UPS has never missed a delivery, not once in the 5 years I've been up here. I have a good relationship with my local driver, both with deliveries from FFM and from my other business. And he carries Milk-bones, so my vicious golden retriever likes him too.

DHL seems to have a lot of excuses when one of my suppliers uses them for deliveries. The truck broke (DHL has only one truck?), they got lost, address doesn't exist, I wasn't home (I work from home and seldom leave), afraid of my dog (understandable; he is a golden retriever, and we all know their well deserved reputation as aggressive man-killers), and the best of all: snow. It does snow here, maybe 3 time per year. A "blizzard" is 6 inches.

I'll go with the flow in whatever you decide, Brad, but that's my nickel's worth (used to be 2 cents, but cost increases hit everybody). Costco had a sale on parentheses, thus my over-use of them in this post (anybody need any, let me know).

I prefer UPS as I have heard that they use the latest and greatest technology in order to ensure packages get to the right place. DHL has miss-shipped my orders on more than one occasion where things have to be re-routed and it has taken up to 2 days to get an overnight package. I've been able to all UPS and speak to someone to give them an alternative address while my package was en-route and it arrived just as I expected - to the different address. I will say this for DHL, when I have had reason to contact them via email, they were quite prompt in responding.

Although DHL has MANY faults per reports on these boards and some personal experience, one positive for me is that I can easily get to their hub for shipments rather than wait at home.

I can actually say that I do like DHL. I guess it all depends on your location. My DHL guy will call me when he has something for me. The cs at the hub are always nice and efficient.

UPS has "lost" at least two of my packages within the past year - sometimes it seems like it's organized chaos but my particular driver is awesome so once it gets to my city I am always happy with the outcome.

I am not surprised, Tunista. The stories I have heard about the Louisville, KY hub specifically would really surprise most ppl. Like any other company, theft at the hubs is a real challenge. This is especially true when the thieves target known packaging that most people are not going to pursue aggressively. I know I would not. The package is usually being tracked by both parties anyway and what good source would not reship if the package disappeared in shipment?

Enjoy the day

thanks - I had an order from H back in the early summer - maybe July (it was about the time I got onto DB's for the sense that there were other people going thru the same thing) - anwyway, all of the orders he sent out on a Monday arrived at the UPS hub in KY and then just sat there forever. Poor guy re-shipped everyone's order about a week later & then he used fed-ex for a while - I can't imagine how much that must have cost him to do that!

I was so dumb then and going thru major withdrawal so I must have checked my TN about 1000 times - if I could have driven the 17 hours to KY I think I might have!

That is the central hub KY and when they seize packages they gather them all their and it will say , "exception" , only happened once before that's been verified many years ago back when they wanted nrops to go away they collected all packages at that central hub everything has to go to and seized em and they all just read "exception"..... and no nothing ever came of it to anyone except the main guy running the company i think and one or two people that actually did go pick up their packages.

Hate fedex. last time my guy shook my package before handing it over, it was Tramadol, and said here's some candy i guess for you real smart asxdd

I was watching the local news many many moons ago and a guy who graduated from my school was being led from his home in handcuffs. He found a way to print labels and was in the sorting facility. He was having guns and jewelry and certain stores items changed for delivery to him and some friends.

Of course he was locked up and it was a federal offense as packages were coming from several states etc.

I agree that these guys are not dumb, heck many of them may be customers of the same places as well or just know what to look for.

When I see the words exception on any package(even work stuff) I get a little worried as I expect it is a problem or severe damage that has prevented the delivery

If I need something overnight, I always prefer fedex... If it is ground, then I go UPS... International, I will go with DHL... I have known several drivers for all 3 companies as I used to work in shipping, and for some reason, every single DHL I knew driver seemed like he didnt care about his job at all, was usually behind schedule, and mistreated packages regularly. Not saying this is true across the board, just my personal experience.
