Acorns are an excellent food source if boiled in water to remove the bitter tannins.
Used buy Native Americans and Koreans through out history.

Not that I'm going to rush out and start picking them up, but these things are handy to know, as my Bail Out is nowhere in sight and times could get tougher than we expect.

On the subject of wild foods- Anyone remember the old man Euell Gibbons ?
He had a TV show and could walk around your yard or overgrown field and pick limitless edible plants that would look like weeds to me.
Forget buying food. If one had this mans knowledge, you would never go hungry.
Really loved his show, but had some doubts after I heard he died of stomach cancer ?

Fox cable shows, even at their most popular, attract 3 million or so; the final American Idol was watched by over 30 million...sort of gives a little prespective on the meaning of "popularity," oh, and I think that "Liberals" tend to read, online, and offline, and not watch the Television Machine as much which may account for the fact that MSNBC has lower ratings. The fact is that Liberal websites outnumber Conservative websites.

Even one person the other night on the program wrote oreilly and said he was a liberal but watched the show just to see what they would expose next. I think fox news is great for checks and balances

People that are interested in politics are from left, right and center...I bring up the political blogs because Liberals seem to gravitate toward them for information instead of watching cable shows; which basically suggests to me that any inference on where the country as a whole sways on any given issue cannot be built on cable viewership although the right wishes it could be.
