Yes, because you want to squeal ACORN, ACORN, ACORN all the way home. And for Christ Sakes, give Alinsky a rest. Not everyone in here is sixty years old, Rochelle.

Personally, I would love to relive the 60's with what I know now.
At the time it was all too confusing and sort of a blur ?

Waiting on a Time Travel Machine ?
Maybe Disney Land will figure one out ?

PS. I do recall Disney Land stopped Long Hairs at the gate and turned them away.
Taking LSD and going to Disney Land was a popular pass time.
Walt got tired of all the freak outs.

Trivia, sorry.

Back to the subject. ACORNS are edible if cracked and boiled.
If you see an Acorn, boil them and eat them.
Soon there will be no Acorns at all.
Problem Solved !

Cheers

DISNEYLAND!

In the 80's I got turned away at the gate because my hair was dyed "unconventional" colors.
Aw.
I was an unrepentant punk chick.
Oh, and my hair is still unconventional colors. Just not quite as unconventional as it was then.

Oh. Back to the subject. Once my hair was the color of an acorn. Kind of. Maybe.

Actually your are right. My wife is from Mainland China originally
and the over 50 crowd there are laughing and embarrassed at Obama.
Because of the bow.
The young ones with little "worldly experience" think he is a rock star.
I'm glad I'm not a woman under 40 and be denied a mammogram
until 50 and a pap smear every 2 years.
And let your future kids pay all the taxes for the incredible accelerating deficit.
I'm glad I'm not in my 30's as I see no future economically.

Well I would like to take some credit , but I have never posted in this thread. Ha

I do disagree with you about the mammogram. My wife has not be able to get here pap smear in some time , with out paying for it. And the only reason she was able to get her mammogram , she had something show up the time before.

This was all before the health reform.

That's why we need the health reform. The insurance companies love to take our money, but when it time to pay up, the hell with us.

I guess you would have to be a women though Rochelle. so I well give you this one.

On the subject of wild foods- Anyone remember the old man Euell Gibbons ?
He had a TV show and could walk around your yard or overgrown field and pick limitless edible plants that would look like weeds to me.
Forget buying food. If one had this mans knowledge, you would never go hungry.
Really loved his show, but had some doubts after I heard he died of stomach cancer ?

I know this is off topic, but Acorn is kind of a dead subject to me :>)

Cheers

Still have his book, and the complete guide to edible mushrooms - so I get Chanterelles, morels and oyster shrooms, not for $16 a lb Gibbons did teach me about Poke, fiddlehead fern and how nasty acorns taste.

The fact that you have defended this country and paid thousands in taxes

Maybe there are members here old enough to remember Euell Gibbons famous Grape Nuts commercial? It went something like this:

A Post Grape-Nuts cereal commercial starred Gibbons asking viewers "Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible."

I think it aired in the mid '70s.

He was talking about the Acorns as as well.

And just pretend it's not you who keeps bring up Alinsky. You're quite good at that skirting stuff sh it.

"Certain members"? For Christ's Sake, drop the passive aggressive bullshit. Brisbain. It's Brisbain who's sick of of references to someone to whom I relate none at at all just because that freak Beck might like to assert otherwise.

Speaking of freaking and Becking:

South Park does Beck. (Well, actually Cartman does it; he's an entity unto himself, animated or otherwise)

someone talking to a mailbox vs. beck talking to millions of people. The fact is Fox news ratings are higher during the beck show and oreilly than CNN and MSNBC combined. That is public info everywhere in the ratings. The guy talking to the mailbox is probably talking to a box on a pole. Beck is talking to millions. Tons of difference.

Fox cable shows, even at their most popular, attract 3 million or so; the final American Idol was watched by over 30 million...sort of gives a little prespective on the meaning of "popularity," oh, and I think that "Liberals" tend to read, online, and offline, and not watch the Television Machine as much which may account for the fact that MSNBC has lower ratings. The fact is that Liberal websites outnumber Conservative websites.

WTF does that mean?
Any idiot can put up a Web site, and do. It means nothing. People interested in politics are center right and independents. BTW, Billo gets over 4 million, Limbaugh something over 12 million steady and the pathetic Chris (thrill up his leg) Matthews can barely get 500,000, it's a joke. He is subsidized due to his politics. Others have to get ratings and earn their money.

even if the numbers were low like 3 million which prob is understated their ratings are still more than CNN and the others combined. That should show most people they are reaching a more diverse crowd and people are concerned. Even one person the other night on the program wrote oreilly and said he was a liberal but watched the show just to see what they would expose next. I think fox news is great for checks and balances

It means that very few people watch the cable shows, and get their information from the regular networks. People that are interested in politics are from left, right and center...I bring up the political blogs because Liberals seem to gravitate toward them for information instead of watching cable shows; which basically suggests to me that any inference on where the country as a whole sways on any given issue cannot be built on cable viewership although the right wishes it could be.

And i could claim that I am Napoleon Bonaparte, but that doesn't make it so. Look enjoy seeing your bias on FOX, but there is ample evidence that they do NOT offer "checks and balances."

Interest payments on the debt alone cost $452 billion last year — the largest federal spending category after Medicare-Medicaid, Social Security and defense. It's quickly crowding out all other government spending. And the Treasury is finding it harder to find new lenders.

i am one to agree there has been some things on fox i am not happy of. I just feel the other networs especially MSNBC owned BY GE whos CEO works for the adminstration will not challenge what is going on. Fox on the other hand will

The networks and major newspapers are losing readership and laying people off. People that are into cable and blogs are simply reinforcing what they already believe. Like Team Jacob and Team Edward from the current vampire/werewolf movie. Team blue and team red.

Who knows what the future holds? Katie Couric and company do not mean anything anymore. One good thing Fox and talk radio did was help expose ACORN. The old networks explicitly ignored it because the story does not fit the administration's agenda.

Except it has been documented that Fox enhances and embellishes its "news."

It lies, in other words.
